Recycling your bike

We run a collection service to pick up unwanted bicycles. The machines are taken to our workshop at Holywells Park for storage and are then repaired and serviced under the watchful eye of our qualified instructors and made available either for hire or for resale.

We can make use of any bike including children's bikes. Suitable bikes will be used for workshops with service users, others will be sold to help fund the project.

We also gratefully accept donations and are keen to hear from interested volunteers.

When bikes are beyond repair, we strip them of their useful components and retain them for future use. The parts that are of no further use are then sent for recycling to prevent as much waste as possible from going to landfill.

In the future we also hope to provide pool bike schemes to local businesses to reduce their mileage bills and improve the health of their workforce as well as the environment.

So clear out your shed or garage and contact Orwell Mencap's Green Bike project to arrange collection!
