New Showroom

If you are looking to buy some top quality garden furniture at very reasonable prices then you really should come up to marvel at our furniture in our new showroom. We have transformed the old Canteen into a lovely bright clean showroom - just in time for Summer. Congratulations to the workshop guys - you have done an amazing job!

Mayor Thrilled to visit Genesis

The Mayor for Ipswich Roger Fern was delighted to visit us on Wednesday 8th February when he toured the whole site and was amazed at the amount of activities and facilities we now have. Mayor Fern visited Genesis in 2005 when he was in his first term of office and enjoyed the visit so much he wanted to come back this time. On Wednesday he visited the workshop and put in an order for a sign, met staff around the site, talked to customers in the cookery session,  the art room and the massage session, then joined the music session enthusiastically banging the drums along with lots of others. This follows the visit a fortnight ago of the High Sheriff of Suffolk who also was amazed at how much we do and have. The plans we have for a new restaurant were also welcomed by the Mayor and Sheriff as a great addition to the local community. We and they are determined that the facilities and the services we offer are secure and indeed will expand for decades to come.

New Bus

We have acquired a bus from Suffolk County Council which we plan to convert to a mobile sensory room for use throughout Suffolk. Although it does need quite a lot of work to refurbish and convert, we hope that over the next 6 months we can find funding for and complete the refurbishment and development of the mobile service. When it is complete it will be the third sensory room we will have available providing yet more new facilities giving an even better experience for the community we serve.

We have obtained planning permission to move the canteen over to the skills building and hopefully over the next few months we can develop a brand new kitchen/coffee shop for our customers and visitors to relax in.

Christmas opening times

Whilst we enjoy Christmas we do miss seeing everybody so we have decided to open Genesis day centre from 9am to 4pm on Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th December although the Thursday night social club will unfortunately be closed on 29th December.

The workshop and Green Bike Project are closed from  Friday 23rd December to Tuesday 3rd December 2017.

Demand permitting, Stars/Buddies holiday clubs will be open for 2 extra days over Christmas holidays. Please contact Sonia for details

Sensory Training

We organised some specialist sensory training for our staff on Friday 20th May and although it's cost gave our finance manager a bit of a shock the customers and staff really enjoyed it. Even better is that the training should allow us to give our customers the best possible use of our equipment in the future.

Street Party

On 10th June we held a "street party" in honour of the Queens birthday and somehow managed to miss the rain and had a lovely meal in the garden..

Congratulations to SJ on being appointed as senior support worker and to Rozie on becoming the new Customer Kitchen Tutor.

July 2014

Our thanks go to our friends at Corbel who generously gave up their time to drive an old banger to Monte Carlo to raise funds for us. It was more a case of Monte Carlo AND bust since the car suffered a permanent malfunction when it arrived at it's terminal destination in Monte Carlo.

19th March 2014

The Countess of Wessex dropped in for a chat today. Of course our very talented people put on a rocking percussion performance for her before showing her the magnificant art work we produce. She then called in on the workshop boys and was pleased to see that everybody still had all their fingers and thumbs. Finally having heard about the top notch food we cook in the canteen she stopped for a bite to eat. Our thanks to all our customers who really did themselves proud and i'm sure it made her day to meet such a group of special people.
